« Pavilions » is a sound installation consisting of four large ceramic pieces with loudspeakers. This work focuse on one of the oldest sound instruments – the bell – and more particularly the church bell. The shape alters the first function and the terracotta material give an other aspect to the sound. In the exhibition space, the ceramics are equipped with a sound display, wich can be activated by the audience during the show. Each piece contains a particular sound, note and frequency.
Those pieces have been made in the workshops of the Madeleine in Anduze – city which perpetuates a tradition of potters dating from the seventeenth century.
